We're transforming the fitness industry through behavior coaching.

Welcome to the Healthy Behavior Institute (HBI), a visionary destination where coaching transcends every expected boundary and empowers coaches like you to make a profound impact on the lives of others. Founded by Scott and Nate, experienced coaches and gym owners who have walked the same path as you, and Dr. Janine Stichter a behavioral expert with extensive experience in behavior change. HBI is fueled by a deep understanding of the challenges, frustrations, and incredible responsibility that come with guiding clients toward their goals.

With a combined coaching experience spanning nearly four decades, Scott and Nate initially followed a conventional approach by immersing themselves in the vast realm of exercise science. While this knowledge proved valuable, they soon realized that it alone couldn’t unlock the true potential of their clients. They yearned to enhance their impact and bridge the gap between their clients’ aspirations and their ability to achieve them.

Driven by an unyielding commitment to their clients’ success, they then delved deep into the fascinating world of nutrition science. They sought to understand how to create effective programs and provide advanced nutrition advice to maximize their clients’ potential. However, despite their growing expertise and dedicated efforts, they still encountered clients who struggled to make the progress they so passionately wished for them to achieve.

Witnessing talented coaches leave the field due to their inability to guide clients towards their desired results and earn the income they needed was disheartening. They realized that change was necessary. It was during this challenging period that they were introduced to Dr. J, a pivotal figure in their transformative journey.

Dr. J, initially a client, soon revealed a wealth of groundbreaking strategies and solutions to their ongoing challenges with client compliance. What began as peri-workout discussions rapidly evolved into profound conversations that opened their eyes to the immense power of behavioral science. Dr. J’s expertise and mastery of this field became the catalyst for the conception of the Healthy Behavior Institute.

Leveraging Scott and Nate’s deep understanding of exercise and nutrition science, combined with Dr. J’s profound knowledge of behavioral science, we embarked on a mission to decipher the complex puzzle of client compliance. Together, we discovered effective strategies and practical techniques that finally started producing the desired results our clients had been relentlessly pursuing.

MEET THE HBI TEAM

Born and raised on a small-town farm, I learned that life is not just about living, but about living fully. Each day taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and resilience These became the bedrock of my life and career.

As a young athlete, I understood the immense impact of physical fitness on overall wellbeing. This fascination led me into personal training. By my mid 20s, I had not just become a part of the fitness space but owned a piece of it – my very own gym.

I've always had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. The first half of my training career was marked by an exhaustive study of exercise and nutrition science. But there was a piece of the puzzle still missing – behavioral science. Understanding the behavior side was like unlocking the door to comprehensive wellness. And now, I can't wait to share this trio of knowledge with my clients, and other fitness professionals enabling them to live better and fuller lives.

Beyond the gym walls, I am a family man, blessed with a loving wife and a wonderful son. I practice jiu-jitsu, indulge in the tranquility of yoga, and am often spotted upside-down perfecting my handstands. I am a lover of business, a connoisseur of tequila, and, believe it or not, an eternal workaholic.

So, here's to life, with its twists, turns, and handstands. To love, in its many forms. To work, that never feels like it. And to fitness, the string that weaves it all together. I look forward to sharing my journey with you and helping you embark on yours.

Ever since I can remember, I've been captivated by the intricate dynamics between minds, personalities, and the environment. Drawn to environmental design initially, my fascination with this interplay led me to behavioral science. With a doctorate in hand, I set out to help children unlock their potential through behavior regulation. Along the way, I recognized the impact of adult wellbeing on children's development, steering me towards adult health and wellness.

Inspired by the oxygen mask analogy, I've always believed that self-care is a stepping stone to nurturing others effectively. Sustainable wellness hinges on recognizing each person's unique nature and lifestyle, striving for an enjoyable and simple experience. This is where behavior science beautifully pairs with exercise and nutrition.

Amidst my professional pursuits, my favorite roles are being a mom and a wife. My family keeps me grounded and motivated. My dogs are my constant companions, bringing comfort and affection. Weight training and yoga help me maintain physical and mental balance, fueling my passion for wellness. The beach is my sanctuary, and some of my best ideas come from the sun’s embrace.

Today, at HBI, I leverage my expertise to impact the wellness journey, guiding trainers and coaches to support individuals in their quest for healthier, happier lives. Through executive coaching, I assist business leaders in achieving their aspirations without compromising personal wellbeing. There's no greater fulfillment than knowing you’ve made a difference.

For almost two decades, I've devoted my life to the art of coaching. As a child, I sat beside my father, enthralled by the film Conan the Barbarian. This ordinary moment ignited an extraordinary path.

I remember the excitement and happiness I felt when my father invited me to accompany him to the gym, a rare and treasured occasion. I felt an inexplicable connection to the space. Those memories are etched in my mind, invaluable moments we shared.

Decades later, I found myself contemplating an unfulfilling job and reflecting on moments when I was truly happy and fulfilled. The answer was swift and unwavering—it was within the walls of the gym. Fueled by this epiphany, I sought to turn this passion into a lifelong vocation. With determination and the internet's power, I tirelessly searched for ways to make my dreams a reality.

As I encountered various gyms, I crossed paths with Scott and, later, Dr. J. Their influence shaped my path as a coach and their impact on my professional growth has been immeasurable. Together, we wove a tapestry of collaboration, inspiration, and growth.

Now, as a devoted father to three extraordinary children, this acquired knowledge serves both clients and my own beloved kids. Making a positive impact while living my purpose is a privilege.

With unwavering commitment to coaching, I guide people to transformative journeys. Let's step into the gym together, unlock your potential, and redefine a life of strength and fulfillment.
